Given the unimaginative name, I went into this series expecting very little.

I’m glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the straightforward writing, quality narration, and topically entertaining plot that is sustained throughout the series. This isn’t some insanely deep immersive drama at the pinnacle of writing mastery, but it’s just a lot of lighthearted fun.

If you’re looking for something universally enjoyable in the litRPG realm, this does that well. I’m 5 books into this series and – while a bit formulaic – it doesn’t feel any worse-for-wear. The quality keeps up throughout and I don’t find myself getting bored of it. It’s not my favorite series ever, but it is among the few series that I intend to keep reading after book 5.
