It’s been a while since I last had the pleasure of listening to an audiobook with a story from Lily Morton and narrated by Joel Leslie. Admittedly, these two are favorites of mine, so when they get together for an audiobook, it promises to be an enjoyable aural experience. It’s been about two years since I read Morton’s Best Man, which is the first in her Close Proximity series, so when I found out the audio for it was finally out AND that it was being narrated by Leslie? Yes, please, and thank you muchly!
Now, the fake relationship trope is not one of my go-tos when it comes to romance, but this is Lily Morton we’re talking about here, and I’ve yet to meet a book she’s penned that I haven’t fallen in love with. Add to that Joel Leslie giving voice to main characters Zeb Evans and Jesse Reed and bringing their story to life, and I was smitten. For six and a half hours, I enjoyed the heck out of this audiobook, and by the end, it felt like time simply sped by. I’m giving Best Man five stars out of five stars.
