Solid contiuation of storylines from book 1, even adding interesting branches. Has similar rpg elements: magic, combat, spells/abilities progression, and a few weapons & armor thrown in.
As in 1st book, this is heavy on village development and resources management, like a RTS/civilization game. I found these aspects boring, and started tuning out the math recitals of food production & requirements. (you might like it, but not my thing) Then I tuned back in when the story was back on track.
New, “real life” players joined the story and our little village… but can they be trusted? This is a grateful break from Oren’s non-stop internal dialoging. (Love the twins!)
So even with its minor flaws, if you liked the first book, I definitely recommend acquiring this 2nd. It’s worth your time & money. I’m onto the 3rd right now 🙂
