Constant distracting and disturbing emphasis on all female characters’ weight and appearance. Seriously. Someone could write a dissertation on this book’s view of women.

Meanwhile, minimal examination of actual motives (was anything Cindy said about her parents true, or ever explored?) and many angles and characters are dropped by the wayside, like her kids, the maid, etc. The actions of the police and private eye firm both come off as confusing because we are missing pieces of the story.
