My initial impression of this book was terrible. The casual disregard of others lives was not good. What really put me off was the frequent and painful use of munching noises whenever the mimic was eating. It completely broke me out of immersion in the book. There were some redeeming qualities to the protagonist but you don’t see them until much later in the book. Certain small touches in the later part of the book I definitely appreciated, like a minor character being vegan and no one making a big deal out of it.
Overall the book was ok for me, it wasn’t to my taste. If you don’t mind casual violence towards others and are not disturbed by loud eating noises then you would probably enjoy this.
