I’ve rarely seen a “smart” mc act so completely dense and oblivious, so much of the time. I realize that these hundred or more instances were intended to move the plot forward, but When your mc (who is supposed to have been a ridiculously high powered character, before his downfall) can’t foresee outcomes, or even understand simple cause and effect that your readerslisteners can see coming from miles away… Then the plot device becomes little more than an annoying (at times infuriating) joke. The mc made stupid decision, after stupid decision, and the only thing that seemed to saved him (95% of the time) was luck… nothing but a heap of serendipity, milked for all it was worth.
