I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the switch in narrators from Rob Drex (first 2 books in the Lightning Series) to Joel Leslie, who tends to be hit-or-miss (sniveling/over emotional voices). But in this case he matched the story/characters and was a hit for me.
Again, I liked how characters from previous books were interwoven and the drag queen identity brought a vibrant, interesting facet to the story. Marty’s bully-turnaround journey reminded me of L.C. Chase’s Pulling Leather where bull rider Scott struggles to accept his identity and make amends for his past actions.
I appreciated the slow development of Adrian’s and Marty’s relationship, but there were some big gaps in time along the way and I would have welcomed more of their story instead of cutting ahead.
