Melody is an Elf, who is being forced by her uncle, Talbot, to marry an evil elf from another territory, Sirk who is King of the Weston Territory, but she and her two sisters devise a plan where she will escape to the human world and her sisters will follow once she finds a safe place for all of them.
Dixon is a Lion shifter, who can’t shift. He lives alone, as a human, in the human world with no hope of ever having a mate – who would accept a mate who can’t shift?
When Melody emerges from the portal into the human world the first person she meets is Dixon, who reluctantly agrees to let her stay in his home, it becomes apparent that they are mates. Both of them have issues and both of them know that they are going to need help to keep Melody safe from the hunters her uncle sends after her.
The story which follows is very well done and involves some very interesting characters and lots of unexpected twist and turns. We get to see Melody and Dixon both gain more confidence in themselves and in each other, and their eventual mating is both sweet and hot at the same time. The story also sets the scene, I think, for further books involving her sisters, well I hope so anyway.
The story was very well narrated by Connor Brown who for me took this story to a whole new level. I had previously read this story almost a year ago when I purchased the eBook but listening to Connor read it was a joy.
I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
