There are pros and cons to this book. It was worth the credit for all 3 volumes, but I was fairly unimpressed throughout. The story was a 6 or 7 out of 10. The writing was a 5. The narration was a 3. The writing lacked realistic conversational style. I did a lot of eye-rolling throughout and actually laughed out loud at times, shaking my head at the character’s unrealistic language conversation. Imagine taking a movie like Scarface and having it re-written by Disney. Thats what this book sounded like. On top of that, the narrator was drone and had little inflection in his voice. His words ran together and you struggled to hear when one thought ended and another one started. You could hear his voice shaking and him gasping for air as he read. As an RC Bray fan, its hard to listen to others who just are lower caliber narrators. Just my opinion… The story was overall fairly good, but its another “saved in the nick of time…again”, story. It passed the time- a lot of it – but if there were another book to follow, I wouldn’t buy it.
