I always find these reviews the most difficult. Ones where I don’t love or hate the story.
Ultimately, this story is just pretty boring. No real plot threads get introduced until the end of the book, and until then they’re just doing things in a video game. At times it reads more like a diary of a beta tester than a story.
Skills and abilities also come way too easily for the group of protagonists. Basically just ‘will it’ and it is so. The problem with that system is there’s no reason everyone can’t perform these feats if these newbs can do it so easily.
If i pick up book 2, I’m hoping some interesting things start to happen…
