This was a weird attempt at mixing romance and thriller, and it just fell short. The weird sex scenes were overly detailed and appeared at random times in between rape and serial murder scenarios. Every character is perfect; they may have troubled paths, but they’re attractive and accomplished and flawless. Nobody experiences change, and everything is just too easy. Fell short. And for some reason, I hated the narrator’s portrayals—either overly feminine or the men sounded old/unattractive. Didn’t match. I’m curious how he finds the people he’s looking for, but not enough to find the second book.
