I was really excited to start this book. It was something new and I was really curious to how Lydia was going to approach it. Sadly, I struggled for the first 50% to even get into it. They aren’t exactly “vampires” but somehow pairing the Amish with what they are just felt… awkward. It felt like two different puzzle pieces that didn’t exactly connect, so I fully understood when the FMC got dragged into it all and was kind of like wtf this doesn’t make sense.

The second half was better. I never found myself fully captured by the story, but it did get more interesting towards the end. I was intrigued by Adam’s sister’s story that’s teased in this one, but once the other half of that was dropped it was a hard no for me.

Lucinda Gainey did a wonderful job, as always, in bringing this story to life.
