The story was interesting. My main issue was that is switches from the killings to childhood to killings etc. so it’s not chronological. I found most of the background story to be self indulgent and uninteresting. The narrator doesn’t distinguish using different voices so it took me half the book to figure out why half the time he used third person and half of the time first person – I thought maybe it was autobiographical and the guy was just crazy so he was referring to himself in third person sometimes. The tone the narrator uses is also off. He is very folksy and light hearted – but this is a book about a serial killer – and he doesn’t change his tone between describing a murder and recounting the guys first job when he was a kid. I found this annoying. Overall, it’s okay not great.
