- Is there anything you would change about this book?
- Simplify and focus the plot. There is way to much going on and it doesn’t make the story line or characters consistent.
- What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- Kevin always brings a consistent performance that doesn’t distract from the story.
- Was Wayward Son worth the listening time?
- I couldn’t finish it, so not really.
- Any additional comments?
- Rehabilitation via aversion therapy didn’t work in A Clockwork Orange, here is another angle on wishful thinking. The story starts with what seems to be an attempt to rehabilitate young muslim thugs by showing them the error of their ways. Using out of body experiences, and showing them the pain caused by their way of thinking is supposed to make them all better. It then meanders off into time travel, aliens and other oddities, loosely tied with social responsibility.
There is way to much crammed into this book and it is disconnected and hard to follow. Characters are inconsistent in their portrayal and actions which seem to change with plot twists.
I made it 3/4 of the way through, but just could not sustain the effort. I may go back and see how it ends.
Kevin Pierce gives a solid effort, but can’t save this mess.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
