Magic and action is happening throughout this entire story. Deidre goes on a journey to understand her father’s journal. Deidre also becomes closely involved with the mountaineers. Marty does a little time traveling too and NO ONE made any “Back to the Future” movie jokes!? Copyright issues I suppose… This second installment of the Monarch Papers I did enjoy more that the first, Monarch Papers, Flora and Fauna. The first really didn’t grab me entirely throughout till the last chapters. The line from Martin in book 1 stating that ,” everything you’re about to read really happened ” and “magic is real.” That line and so much more kept me hooked if I felt things were moving too slow. The narrator J.R. Moorland did a great job. Martins gritty , low NY voice is perfect. Then there is Deidre’s light Irish accent. Great job separating different characters with a different accent considering there are lot of different people in the mountineers. I highly recommended the Monarch Papers both 1 and 2. It’s mystery and magic in the real world. A great book to escape into and keeps you wondering.
