The magic of Lily Morton and Joel Leslie continues in this funny, sweet story. I was nervous because the fake boyfriend trope has been done many, many times and usually involves too much internal monologuing about how the relationship is “fake.” This story does it right. While there is a fake boyfriend scenario, the focus of the story is the developing relationship between Zeb and Jesse. Zeb’s grumpiness and Jesse’s irreverence are the perfect blend and the story does a great job of progressing their relationship. I only wish it was longer because it was so good! There was also a cameo and a few references to characters from other books, which is a treat for fans of the author. Looking forward to the next in the series.
