Okay so let’s talk about what I loved. This book is set back 30 plus years ago when talking about being gay and HIV was taboo. So it was very interesting to hear a story like this from multiple POV’s. I was also fascinated by the fact that Randy was married and had a child when he decided to make a life altering decision that would change the course of his life forever. But while it was a truly heartbreaking story, it was also beautiful and I’m saddened to think about all the folks out there still struggling with what society deems appropriate or proper. Love is love and I’m glad this story was written and that I’ve have the opportunity to enjoy it. It’s serves as a reminder that we as a society still aren’t where we need to be but hopefully still working on it.
The narration was wonderful. David Allen Vargo’s performance was amazing.
What I didn’t like about this book was for me it was too slow. Not enough happy moments, until the HEA at the very end it was a very somber story. I also did not care for all the sound effects. I’m not sure if that’s the narrator or author decision but in this book I found it to be somewhat distracting. I still enjoyed the story and its message.
This book has an HEA and can be read as a standalone.
