- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- Yes. Excellent tale of Victorian England, a time when homosexuality could get one jailed for life, or even executed. But two men fall in love and fight to find a way to be together.
- What was one of the most memorable moments of The Innocent Auction?
- The whole section where Tom and Deacon try to rescue Deacon’s gay cousin who was caught in a male whorehouse and sent to an awful prison where he was treated like a pig.
- Which scene was your favorite?
- The ending
- Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
- There were some laughs here and there, but overall it was just a drama. I didn’t cry, but I kept wondering how they were going to make things work given the era. There was no way two men could live together without being caught at some point.
- Any additional comments?
- Joel Leslie brought this book to life with voices so good they really seemed like there was a whole cast performing. Excellent accents, too. If I see Joel’s name attached to an audiobook, I have to listen to it!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
