Hailee Raine is a senior; this is her final year in Rixon before she leaves for art school. Goodbye football-obsessed town, goodbye step-brother Jason with his cruel streak, and good riddance. She hates it all. Cameron Chase, #14, beloved wide receiver of the Rixon Raiders, and Jason’s best friend has the world at his feet. Every girl wants him and college offers are coming in. Senior year should be everything, but even picture-perfect lives have some dark spots and his life is no exception. Then there’s the pesky fact that yes, he has girls throwing themselves at him but he wants the one who is completely off-limits to him. Jason’s little sister. Hailee.

No author does high school angst any better than L.A. Cotton. Enemy to lover, a brother’s best friend romance, bully romance; take your pick. This is a perfect read. It’s easy to fall into. Anyone that lives in a sports town will quickly be swept up into the story. The characters are all real, if not always likable. Hailee is a spitfire; free-spirited, strong, and talented. It took a minute for Cameron to find his manhood but once he did he proved he is a stand-up guy, sweet, and adorable (so is his baby brother). Asher is hysterical. We need more of this guy. I had a harder time with Flick. She would go from being a great friend one moment to selfish the next in my eyes. Jason was difficult. I understood his character but didn’t care for him. I look forward to his redemption. Hailee and Cameron together are perfect, and their chemistry is smoking. Sunshine and #14. “I never wanted to break you,” I confessed.”I only wanted you to see me”. Yep, I fell.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are wonderful as the characters. They voice Hailee and Cam perfectly and make all of the other characters different and genuine as well. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
