You have got to read “American Apocalypse” first to feel the heart and motivation for this story. It can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone 2 book series but a whole lot more fun reading / listening to the first series first.
“Cole’s Saga” 2 book set has been on my suggested reading list for a long time and i dismissed it because of the cost. Then i picked up “American Apocalypse” as a 4 book set and got hooked.
At the end of the first set Cole has been missing for 7 years. He had gone on a mission and never come home, presumed captured by slave traders or killed. Joe, the star of the first series offers hope at the end suggesting Cole was captured, escaped, and is now living a good life that for some reason does not allow him to come back home. The inter weavings between both series are great! Then the author introduces this series to find out what happened to Cole. Had me hooked. There is a goodly amount of truth in other reviews regarding female jealousies and securities yet it was a great listen for those who love shtf stories. Knowing both series make the ending a good one. That probably ruined it for everyone.
