When I started to listen to this series, I kind of didn’t get the plot, yet the farther Book 1 went, the more exiting it got, to the point of me “cutting onions, lots of onions”. R.E. McDermott struck every point of my being. I’m a retired Senior NCO, have seen my fair share of combat and then some. Whether being a parent, a soldier, a comrade, there was just not one bit of all those characters in this book series, in which I wasn’t able to identify myself with. He struck home plate with me.
I enjoyed to listen to his writing style, very detailed, letting the listener/reader know, he’s either lived it himself, or is darn good in researching. Ones the book series came to its end, I couldn’t believe it was over, I caught myself living every step with those people.
Now a word about the narrator. Kevin Pierce is a master at what he does, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him, the fine nuances of language he gives the various persons in those books, up to my hero Andrew from the Bayou is just mind blowing, especially in the ever repeating highest quality. Thank you for making my commute to and from work a delight by listening to you Kevin Pierce.
