About manhood, how some wealthy behave, about what a “true woman” is in author’s eyes; concepts of love. I felt the puritanical concepts were more of late 18th century vs 1950’s It was an interesting story only a couple characters I could really relate to. It was an interesting book, have to think about it to know how I really feel about it. Very disturbing that woman who was verbally and physically abused but who was cast as very independent and capable chose to stay but I think that is probably reality. Certainly some food for thought in parts.
