By mid-chapter 14 it hit me why this story seemed so uncomfortably familiar. I had to read “The Lord of The Flies” for a high school literature class in the 70’s and I detested it. Modern man falling into primitive survival behavior and psychological deterioration for sake of survival of the fittest. Yuck! I hated that much touted book and this story mirrors it except the players are adults vs the children in LOTF.

I will finish this book but I doubt I will enjoy it. It has already become so depressing. This is not the caliber I have come to expect from the author but I will give a pass as I have enjoyed all of what he has written prior to this book.
