She was propositioned in a prison parking lot. Mercy doesn’t want to be involved with him since his fathers a crime boss. Her mother died from a heroine overdose and the thought of being with a man who sells drugs and profits off it turns her off. But she’s vulnerable and he’s willing to take advantage of her needing his help to protect her father. His stipulation is one week with him to prove he’s nothing like his father.

I am no stranger to KA Tuckers books. This series is quite different from her other romance books. Those were more contemporary reads.

There’s four books dedicated to Mercy and Gabriel in the Empire series. Four books of Gabriel trying to break Mercy to his will while also trying to break ties with his father. These are supposed to be mafia stories. It’s more about the romance and less about the mafia.

I’m finding I’m not that invested in these characters. The audiobook narrators are not helping improve my experience. The male narrator’s performance is not living up to my expectations of what a crime bosses son would sound like.
I didn’t like this book or the characters.
