Litrpg is something of a guilty pleasure of mine , but even by that standard it can be hard to find an entry that doesn’t have major problems with the hero, or the writing or the narration or any combination of them.
This is a fairly good entry in the genre, the Hero and side characters are likeable , the narration is excellent , and the setting is better than the “game show” description might suggest making for a genuinely gripping dungeon crawl experience.
While there is some profanity, it’s not so gratuitous as to be grating , and the humour is enough to add just that right amount of levity to what otherwise might be a pretty dark setting.
The progression and drama is pretty constant through the series so far through to the third novel and I’m genuinely looking forward to a fourth entry.
Definitely worth it if you can get it on special, but if you’re looking for something to throw a loose credit at you could do far worse if you enjoy Litrpg.
