This book is one of those “Sunday Reads”, it’s a lovely read/listen for a weekend afternoon. You can easily finish this book over a weekend day and get an enjoyable story out of it.
Wren and Mateo are a balance to each other. Wren is poor and down to earth while Mateo was born with a silver spoon; however Mateo works hard to make his hotels a wonderful place to stay. They create a balance with one other. They have their issues with the power of the money dynamic, but they work it out for their HEA.
Joel Leslie does a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. I’ve read this book when it first came out, but the audiobook adds to the book and the characters. Mr. Leslie is a fantastic narrator with his use of tone and accents. I enjoyed his spin on this rendition of Lily Morton’s The Cuckoo’s Call.
*Listener Note: I received a free copy of this audiobook through Gay Romance Reviews (GRR) and this is my honest review.
