I listened to Peace of Music prior to this book. Personally, I found this one more cohesive, and a better story. The story’s premise was good, and I enjoyed the intrigue. However, I found the characters in this book were also quite idealistic. All are “beautiful” but, I did connect more with these characters.
There are almost two main story threads. There is a horrible event that befalls the main character Davina and a few of her friends. The story before, and then the story after this event have Davina’s life going in different directions, each with their own series of ups and downs. It is after this event that Divina becomes an international singer, meets Jean, and life becomes even more precarious.
Denise did a good job narrating this book. She does several accents and her male voices are good. If I recall correctly, she used the same voice for a few male characters, however, it did not disrupt the listening. The audio quality of this book is not so great.
There is some swearing and domestic violence but it’s just based around one character and not excessive. I don’t recall if there were any sex scenes, but, if there was they were not overly explicit.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.
