Starting Awaken Online I had a hard time getting into the reader for the audio book. He is a bit older for the young character but ends up doing mostly well. Getting started the writing and descriptive words were a bit repetitive and felt like the author could have used a thesaurus here and there but it smoothed out towards the middle. I enjoyed the story but the conversations between some of the characters and the love interests felt a little forced and awkward. That said, looking past those few issues I personally had, the book was fun. It had a good premise and I saw where the author wanted to go. He kept the action up and the want to know what happens to the main character Jason next. Jason is a likable character and has a few out of character moments, but for the most part I enjoyed following him along his journey. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to get their LitRPG fix but if you are just staring out don’t let the writing of this book dissuade you from continuing in your LitRPG path. Check out other great books like The Land series by Aileron Kong. I look forward to seeing how Travis Bagwell grows and hope he learns as he writes and the next books in this series just get better and better.
