I love LitRPG books. It’s all I’ve been lisy to for the past year since I discovered the genre. I love fantasy realms, and more than that dragons in particular.
This story feels like it was written by a teenager who recently hit puberty and his only sexual experience is from watching Hentai. His brain (both writer and main character) turns everything into either sex or a sexual reference. Everything… like hanging out with teenage boys who recently discovered dirty magazines and thinking they know something based in that alone kind of way. I got to the 4th book in the series because I really wanted it to see some character progression. But no. Both lead female characters I really liked, and could have been much more. But the writer basically turns them in to subservient sex bots who can’t resist the immature self proclaimed idiot for more than 5 minutes with wanting to bed him. I feel like instead of the series being written for the sake of engrossing the reader, it was the writer living out his own fantasies and we were simply invited to be peeping toms.
Oh and the 3 stars for the performance is because the narrator sounds like he’s a dad telling a story around the campfire. I know he’s a professional, but he lacks the talent of many of the other narrators I’ve listened to. To the point that at times he is so noticeably bad, that it’s distracting at times, and pulls you out of the story.
