With this book being .5 of the series, I know it wasn’t meant to tell a full story; however, the story that was given jumped around in time so much that not much was accomplished for me. We get to see 3 or 4 periods of the main character, Crispin’s life. This gave what I’m sure is meant to be character development for the later books, but didn’t resonate with me in the present.

Also, with the 1 hour 44 minutes that the audiobook version is, I would estimate that half an hour was devoted to the author’s recommendations for other books by other authors (having pages from the other books being read). Personally, I would rather have had more of the story and its development made rather than hearing books that wasn’t what was purchased.
