The Miller series of Holmes and Watson are the best that I have read of the “noncanonical” nature. The characters, including Rafferty, as a friendly collaborator and “competitor” with Holmes, as well as the story lines stay true to Conan Doyle. The narrator is perfectly in character and dialects.
