The story is kind of meh. The writing tends to just tell you things rather than show things happening but feels okay otherwise. The battles, fights, and systems are interesting on a technical level even if the verbiage and dialogue are relatively basic. It’s not a deal breaker, but I’m a big fan of flowery and clever language, so that may just be a preference thing.

I like the premise of the RPG world and meta-real-life story a lot, so I’m sticking around for these. Especially since the other storyline in this world will eventually collide with this one.

The narrator struggles with accents and I think is rolling his R’s harder in this book than the others. It’s kind of obnoxious and jarring when a simple flipped R sound would be fine. Unless the characters are stated clearly, it is often hard to determine the difference between them and some of them seem flat.
