This book is okay. Laney, the lead female, is amazing. I love her character and her narrator. Theo, however, I cannot stand. He is written like a whiny, fedora-wearing, “friend zoned,” holier than thou, self-pitying douche. He even at one point uses the phrase “nice guys finish last.” The narrator was just as frustrating as the character. He puts emphasis on weird parts of sentences. I had to increase listening speed just to get through it. Laney was the redemption for this book. Strong willed and well rounded. A truly three dimensional character. She deserved better than Theo, but I appreciate the sentiment of a classic love story.
