The intro to the book was very thoughtful and informative, and laid out the context for which the book written. The intro also provided insightful caveats of which to be aware given the context of the book. Moreover, the intro offered contemporary and multicultural perspectives on psychedelics which were obviously not known or understood by westerners at the time the book was written. The actual book – I could not get past the first chapter. I skipped to the second chapter to no avail as well. The authors use their own cryptic lingo to describe their subjective experiences. I found it neither intellectually, emotionally, nor spiritually stimulating. If you want to read it for historical context, perhaps it would appeal. But to me, it sounds like the nonsensical ramblings of hippies who are overly enamored with the intellect – go figure!
