It is very hard for me to say a book was terrible. I usually have good things to say about a book along with the issues I have, but I honestly cannot come up with a good thing about this book. Now, I will state before going forward, that I am only about 1/3 of the way through the book (I have 10 hyours 15 minutes left according to Audible). I stopped listening about 3 weeks ago, and there is no desire to pick it back up and continue listening. It might get better as time goes on, but please be aware that I just could not finish listening to the book at this point in time it is just that bad.

The narrator has a rough gravely voice for the main character. It makes him sound like he is about 40-50 years old when in fact he is a 17-18 year old kid. I have a difficult time taking him seriously when he expresses teen angst with an older mans voice. The character himself is pretty one dimensional. He is a whiny loser whose parents gave him everything but love. He doesn’t fit in at school, but from my perspective it doesn’t sound like he even tried to. He wanted the school kids to adapt to him while not doing anything, even if it would turn out to be futile, to change his classmates opinion of him. From the backstory, it came across as giving up on day 1 at his new school, which is probably why he was bullied. He never confronted his parents about school issues and so how were they supposed to know that something is wrong. It was already part of the premise that his parents essentially abandon him for their work, so of course they are not going to notice that something is wrong.

The MC becomes marked as evil right from the get go. However, he was attacked and killed his attacker. In most games, especially within the litrpg genre, killing an attacker does not give you infamy points. Then why does this happen to the MC right at the very beginning? Because of this, his entire gaming experience changes and he goes down the path of evil.

I will try to work through this book and then give a more informed review, but as of right now, this is a herculean effort on my part to continue listening to this nonsense.
