Joel Leslie is one of my favorite voice actors – I often choose books just because he’s the narrator – but this book is so awful even his voice acting skill couldn’t save it. I tried to return it at chapter 7, then when that didn’t work, I pushed through to chapter 13 before I couldn’t stand another moment. Every idea in this book is pulled from somewhere else and so common that even good writing couldn’t have saved it… but the writing ISN’T good – the dialogue is dry and barren, with one protagonist constantly relating information to the other with responses of “Wow. That’s so crazy. I can’t believe any of this is real.” Every. Single. Time.

Unless this is the first time you’ve ever read a book about the supernatural, AND you’ve never seen a movie about anything supernatural, just… don’t.
