There is simply no excuse for abuse. Every character in this book is egregiously irresponsible and immature about it, including all parental figures. Author spoiler, having a relationship requires development – in real life and in literature.
Also, narrative includes a child and neither of these two “artists” bothered to develop any vocalizations acceptably close to it.
