I’ve listened to the Mixed Signals series and the Finding Home series by The same author and I swear Joel Leslie was made to read Lily Morton’s novels. He breathes life into the characters and makes side characters more lovable. I also love that I can always differentiate who is speaking based on his accents/emphasis for various characters.
This book was so different from her previous works. I was picking up what she was putting down with all her hints about the nature of what’s going on in the house, but I was still surprised by the ‘Edgar Allen Poe’ type details. I totally loved it as it created more spooky suspense than I’m used to with her writing. I’m happy there’s already a sequel because I’m about to go buy it ☠️
York is now on my bucket list. The way Lily describes the atmosphere is so eerie, yet ‘small town friendly’ and I like the setting almost as much as the characters this go around. And holy wow do I love the ghost tour ‘meet cute’ ha!
