Alice Winters had amazing ideas and I wish she could just write a story without having to put in so much ridiculous .
The story is much scarier than I thought it would be (thanks Joel☠️ you nailed it) but then the characters are just not … I don’t … I mean, Seneca is completely unrelatable …. the author gives us a smidge of information about him and that is it – other than that all we get is constant ridiculous sexual harassment . I couldn’t even buy into his behavior when Chevy gets injured . It’s just so out of left field and there’s no foundation for it . Which brings me to Chevy . Chevy has zero self awareness or self confidence and we are given very little context for it.
What I like about Alice’s work is the complexity of the new worlds she creates and that she takes very very serious ideas and pairs them with humor . It’s refreshing and needed but I honestly don’t understand how the she can write such funny banter and create such wonderful worlds but not balance them more succinctly .

I stopped caring about the mystery around 75% and I certainly never cared about the “relationship” between the two MC’s so I skipped to the end.
