The book covers the story of Dean Corrll, a prolific serial killer that committed his crimes in Houston in the early 70s. Jack Olsen is simply one of the best true crime writers. Kevin Pierce’s narration & Olsen’s writing practically guarantee a fantastic listen.
What I like about Olsen, is he really delves into the victims’ lives & families; he humanizes the victims, bringing the reader close to the victims. You feel empathy for them. His writing never feels exploitive or sensationalized.
The other reason I like Olsen is that he presents the facts without editorializing or judgements on the victims, the killer or how cops did (or didn’t do) their jobs.
This is another great book from Olsen.
