Something is for certain , when you read/listen a Lily Morton story; you’ll feel a wide range of intense emotions; Joy, Excitement, Surprise, Sadness, Anger, Fear, Anticipation, Guilt, Hope, Angst, Pleasure, Love.
I felt all those emotions while listening Joel Leslie narrate Risk Taker. His portrayal of Ivo and Henry was passionate , enthusiastic and dramatic, just as the personalities of the heroes are.
I first read Risk Taker back on 2018 . From the get go, Ivo and Henry’s complicated yet beautiful and quirky friendship/relationship captivated me. Their devotion, trust, sexual chemistry and unconditional love for each other makes an entertaining and fun read/listen.
Their journey to HEA is paved with a lot of angst and fears. As well as, hot AF explicit sexy times, witty remarks , snarky banter, unforgettable one liners and lots of love. Of all 3 books in the Mixed Messages series, Risk Taker is the most emotional.
It is clear , I enjoyed Risk Taker. Yet, I have to point out , my slight disappointment with Joel Leslie’s French and Italian accents. Both sounded the same , a mix of British English with something else, I couldn’t identify. His British accent was great as always.
And before, a fervent listener fan, gets offended, let me just say, my extended family is Italian and lives in Italy , and I worked for 20 years , with a well known French Hotelier; so I know what am talking about it.
