First, I like the narrator and will definitely look into other books he performs. I’m really, really picky about narrators (I’m a huge RC Bray and Ray Porter fan…who isn’t, right?) and Heitsch isn’t quite in their league, but he’s good!
As for the stories– the MC is a hot-head, who has a gunship for a hammer and sees every problem as a nail. He drags his crew into one poorly planned caper after another, which they always, predictably, escape. But, the action is fun and his crew is loveable & witty, so the books are overall ok.
It’s sort of like Guardians of the Galaxy with a few F-bombs thrown in.
If all of these stories were sold as a publisher’s pack I’d probably read more. However, each book is pretty short and not compelling enough to warrant the cost so I’m not continuing on with the series.
