The book reads like someone in a highschool creative writing class tried really, really, hard and podted a first draft to reddit.
Let’s be honest – LitRPG isn’t necessarily known for great writing or editing, and compared to a lot of LitRPG this compares well to an extent, but compared to any more mainstream genre, The writing, editing, and characterization are poor. The divine dungeon series had some interesting mechanics, however. This book really didn’t.
The characters are all uninteresting cariacutures and the motivations are bizarre. Nothing really happens for a long time, and author tries to portray the main character as wise and loveable, but he ends up coming across as obnoxious and pretentious. The villains’ are all one dimensional, and clumsy exposition is used everywhere.
I really can’t recommend this to anyone. The divine dungeon series itself is worth a read of you like LitRPG, but this book is pretty boring and cringey stuff.
