It’s just…boring…
The story is flat and predictable, the character development is flat and predictable. The only really exceptional bit is Jeff Hayes narration, which is always top tier! I will give credit, having the character start underpowered was a nice touch, but honestly the whole story was just…meh. The very best and most interesting part of the book is literally the last sentence, but I’m not sure if I want the sequel after such a bland start. It just felt uninspired. Nothing nearly as good as as the literary thrill ride that is Super Sales on Super Heroes, and the end of the book makes it sound like it could wind up just as trashy/filthy as the train wreck Dungeon Deposed (which I couldn’t even finish). Honestly try a different title.
