By the end of this book, I started to actually enjoy the book quite a bit. It took more than half of the book before you get to that point though. The main character is very hard to like (even in the later half), but you can tell the author was purposely setting up a sort of redemption arc. He and his axe are pretty annoying to listen to a lot of time as they bicker like children, but they get better as the author finds his stride. Thankfully the new characters that appear later in the book are more entertaining and fun. The worst part of this book is that there are long sequences of stats often getting rattled off that have very little impact on the story (he tells you the stats and then the character has no real reflection other than, wow those are good stats). In the end, it was enjoyable, but not amazing. 7/10
