We stumbled into this about the time he published book 4, and now my entire family has both read all 7 books and listened to the first 6 audible books. Jeff Hays has a great voice, and you can tell both he and the author are having fun with the series, it really shows. The story itself, probably because of its wild Patreon crowdsourcing system, is like nothing else. The twists in the plot through the series are utterly unpredictable, and there’s genuine delight in ‘oh yeah’ plot points airing throughout the story. Anyone who like DnD, old Saturday morning cartoons, 90s pop culture, and just plain weird stories will find much to love here. The audio book for book 1 is really good, but it gets way better when the real story starts later in the series. Like nothing else, highly recommended.
