I’m enthralled by all the Alexis Hall stories I’ve read, and this was no exception. I adore Alexis Hall’s books without pause; all the moments in the sweet, warm brilliance that exist in Alexis’s words. However, I kept getting distracted by the improbability and silliness that weaved through this trilogy. Perhaps the confusing contradictions in the story were intentional? Maybe the author wanted the reader to be as confused as Arden was about Caspian … and life? Having said that, the fact that I think or care about any of this confirms the worth of this trilogy. Still, I think if Alexis were to write this today, it would be two books rather than three.
Joel Leslie’s narration is beyond brilliant. The nuances and subtleties he brings to his performance are perfection.
