The story lacks suspense, depth and it’s repetitive.

How many times do the same characters need to fight people, get captured and take over the enemy by force.

Sometimes unrealistic odds are fun, interesting, but over and over again, it just gets boring.

You know he isn’t going to die in the first chapters of the book, especially knowing there are 3 books.

What was the deal with the sheriff/Millie and the hat?
It was a big deal, she didn’t want Beck to see her face without the hat on, but nothing came of it.
No real back story about Millie and her mom, no flash backs to when she was taken. Even her recounting cutting his ear off was anticlimactic.

Not much on the struggles of a post EMP life, and the daily impact on society. Just glossed over and skipped to 4+ years ahead.

So many wasted opportunities to make the story deeper or more interesting, it fell short with repetitive battles and death.
