I swear this character must be a cat, but instead of having nine lives she has nine opportunities to get caught and then escape per book. It just got tedious the way she kept throwing herself into stupid situations, getting hurt and/or getting someone else hurt because she jumped without planning, or made a really stupid plan, and then she gets a miraculous rescue of some kind… only to do it all again in the next chapter. She drags everyone around her into trouble, she blames herself for doing it, tells us yet again that ‘it’s all my fault’ as she cries out the other character’s name in dramatic woe a few dozen times, and then something or other temporarily saves the day. And does she learn anything from these mistakes? Nope, just jumps right back in at the next opportunity.

I liked the characters in the first book, so when the rest of the series showed up in a sale I purchased all of them. I enjoy most of Anette Marie’s books, so I’m really hoping that this series goes somewhere. I had a hard time getting through this book and I spent most of my time annoyed by the disaster magnet of a main character and her stupid decisions. Time for her to grow up!
