I am enjoy Bentley Little’s books, and had high expectations for this one as is considered one of his best by many reviews I saw, but the ending ruined it for me sadly.
The performance of the narrator was good, have no complains.
The problem is in the story itself, so a chain store moves to a small town, mysterious things happen during its construction, and then the store slowly take over everything in the town. One of the characters goes work in the store and right in the interview part in the book things happen and the character reaction doesn’t seam feasible to me but I can accept it as some kind of influence the store seams to have over people.
The ending though it’s hard to accept. The final twist that happens should have broke the main character, the fact that it doesn’t and he at the end rebuilds his life back to normal left me with a bitter feeling regarding the book.
